The first season was aptly presented by Jonathan Ross, and the second and third seasons after that were hosted with
Fool Us Host Alyson Hannigan.
Each episode starts off with the introduction stating the purpose of the series. Penn & Teller come out and are seated at the center stage. They watch eager magicians will perform their acts before them, in front of a live studio audience. After each show, Penn & Teller privately confer while the host interviews the magicians. Penn & Teller then reveal their knowledge of the method used to perform the trick, in a cryptic manner, usually by using language or writing down the method and presenting it privately to the magicians for confirmation, the method, in order to avoid approaching public disclosure of the method of the trick.
The fifth season will be broadcasted October 6, 2022.
19 Times Penn & Teller Made An Error
Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London, England (season one) and at the Penn and Teller Theater located in Las Vegas (season two onward). Following each show, when Penn & Teller cannot figure out how the trick was done, and the magician(s) who performed the trick win the Fool Us trophy and a five-star trip for a trip to Las Vegas to perform as the opening act for Penn & Teller’s show, in addition to The Rio Hotel & Casino.
The 6th season premiered on 8 October 2021.
Teller notes that the doublespeak helps teach people new techniques without spoiling the trick. If Penn & Teller are wrong or are unable to find out how they did it, the magician will be awarded a Fool Us trophy and the opportunity to later perform at one of Penn & Teller’s Las Vegas shows. A backstage judge who is well-versed in the tricks of the magic business and intimately aware of how the trick is done before the performance, makes any needed calls to determine if Penn & Teller were properly fooled. At the end of each program, Penn & Teller perform a magic act on their own.
The first season Jonathan Ross served as a temporary replacement for Penn and Teller’s hosting duties but they were back for the next season.

From Season 3 onward, from season three, the top 10 performers who fooled Penn & Teller are invited back to appear on an exclusive episode of Fool Us in which they each repeat their trick and try to fool Penn & Teller again for a further ten thousand dollars cash prize.
Raymond Teller remains silent throughout the course of the show, however they do communicate through subtle gestures between them. They are known to confer with magicians and request them to repeat certain actions or provide more information.
As of the year 2017, Penn and Teller have published books on deceit, and created instructional videos on how to play cards, and toured with a magic show called Penn & Teller The Trick Us.
